Valentine's Day Baby

Look at this little cutie.  AH I love him.

So I found a picture similar to this on Pinterest.  I had to try it!

Mother's BEWARE.  This photo opt might look easy, but looks can be deceiving.

But it is so worth this face…….

Before tackling this adventure, make sure you have these 3 items:

1) red lipstick
I used the cheap NYC brand.

It gets extremely messy…so don't waste your pennies on something ultra expensive.

2) make-up remover wipes
My heart is sold on Neutrogena makeup remover wipes, but any brand will do.

Fact: regular baby bum wipes do not work.

Also, my makeup remover face wash did not work in the tub either.

So at 11:00pm my very happy husband made a Smith's run.

3) Photoshop of some kind

If you don't have Adobe Photoshop or iPhoto on your computer, Picmonkey is free.

After 10 minutes lipstick was everywhere, so I had to touch up his cute little tummy.

Happy Valentine's Day Photo Shoot!

January Baby Pics

I've officially turned into a photo freak.  My Sister-in-law told me it happens to every mother.  I convinced myself it would not happen.  And yet…..now I find myself buying outfits purely to take pics of Jaxon in them.  Poor Jax.  But this smile says he's getting used to it.

I found this hat at Target on sale for $6.  It's their Cherokee brand and I about died when i saw it.  That's what Target does to a woman.

My favorite way to take pictures? With our iPad.  No joke every pic of him I take is with the iPad now. I like the iOS7 editing choices.  Just as good as photoshop for me(since I don't have that haha)!

The trick is to click a million pics and finally get a smiley.  I love him so much!

Best Sewing Machine for the Minky Seamstress

Sewing has become my thing lately.  When I was 16 my more got me a little Kenmore sewing machine from Sears.  Right….thanks a lot mom.

What I didn't understand then(along with a slew of other things) is that became the best gift anyone has ever given me.  I literally use it everyday, for anything like letting out my pre-pregnancy pants to sewing burp cloths.
Sewing became a passion, and I was recently offered a job sewing for Minky Couture.  If you haven't ordered a blanket from them…..

YOU ARE MISSING OUT!

They are the best, cutest, softest blankets on the face of the planet.

I had to get one for my baby. He is obsessed with it.

Minky Couture has been in business for the last 3 years, and business is booming.  Everyone has to have a Minky.

But quickly I learned that sewing minky fabric is incredibly hard……and the days of little Kenmore came swiftly to an end.  My tension was off every 5 seconds, and I repinned the blanket (so that dang fabric wouldn't slip) until my fingers hurt.

My manager finally suggested a sewing machine that has proved the most minky worthy…

PFAFF Ambition Essential

$700 retail, but if you're like me you have to buy used.  I bought mine for $435 on ebay.

This is perfect for the sewer who is not a professional but does lots of projects!

The reason this machine is so good……well, for one, it's a FPAFF. Also the built in walking foot keeps the fabric from slipping.

If you can't afford a new machine I highly suggest buying a walking foot attachment online.  On amazon they ranged $20 to $40 depending on the model and quality.

Happy sewing!

DIY Carseat Canopy...easiest tutorial ever!

I love the whole carseat canopy thing.  So cute!  And as I've learned the last month, it keeps your kid warm and away from germs.

When I was still pregnant everyone told me about this carseat canopy website.  But holy expensive!  Even with the promo codes I thought to myself I could do this for so much cheaper! So of course I found myself on Pinterest.

I hate reading instructions.  I am a huge visual learner...show me how to do it once and we're good.  So when it comes to following a tutorial on the internet, I read several to see which one I like and understand the most.

GO to:  creativelychristy.blogspot.com

I found this tutorial for a carseat canopy and loved it. SO easy, especially if you pretend to be a good sewer, like me.  It literally took me one hour!  Which, according to my husband, never happens!
