{DIY} Casual Princess

I have the cutest niece named Shay.  She is the princiest princess if you ever saw one.  Everyday she has a ritual of changing into every princess costume she owns.  This ritual usually ends up in tears when mom says "We have to go!"  As almost all four year old girls, being a princess is a high priority, and changing out of the royal princess attire is heartbreaking.

Naturally what did Princess Shay want for her 4 year old birthday?  Uh....Princess dresses, duh.   So of course I explored Pinterest to see what I could do.

This lady had the BEST idea EVER.  She took everyday clothes, added a little pizzaz, and whaaalaa!   She created "Casual Fridays: Princess Style"

I found a light purplish pink shirt with ruffles and purple leggings at Walmart(all together $12), then I bought thread and fancy ribbon($6).    I undid the seams just enough, put in the ends of the ribbon in the neck and sleeves,and then sowed it back up.

Not a bad $20 gift especially for a princess in training!

Chevron Wall Tutorial

I am obsessed with the chevron pattern...which is okay because it seems the rest of the DIY-er population is too. My latest adventure was painting the spare bedroom.....which one day will be our kiddies room. I read so many DIY blogs and watched on painting a perfect chevron on my wall. Oh my goodness. All of the blogs/tutorials recommend drawing a grid on your wall. I realized if I wanted to spend the rest of my life painting one wall then I should follow their advice. So I created my own perfect chevron plan.

It's been thought of before and certainly isn't rocket science, but it made my life so much easier! I created a template for one chevron:

Here are the measurements:
7 in high
9 in long
up 3 in from the bottom





I started by marking down every 7 inches on one side of the wall with a 12 inch ruler then I traced my template on the wall with a pencil.

I would also measure the wall after I traced it just to make sure it was aligned right

Ta Da!  I love my Chevron wall!

2 weeks and 1 day

I've determined that "Bridezilla" is a disease.  If you are a bride-to-be that means your immune system is weak, and chances of catching the "bridezilla" bug are high.  All I can do at this point is pray that I don't get infected. 

I'm pretty sure that the reason we plan crazy weddings and receptions is so the groom can see the bride at her worst....then he really knows what he's getting into by "tying the knot." 

2 weeks and 1 day.  That's when I get to marry my best friend, Adam.  And all of the ribbon and decorations and planning and to-do lists and craziness will be worth it. I can't wait.  I'm excited to start a new life with him by my side!  He means everything to me.
