Great to Be 8! I like to look for Rainbows

If you are not in primary than you are missing out.  Just kidding all of the church is awesome.  But primary is like the middle of the cinnamon roll.....which to me is the best part!

We have twelve 7 year olds turning 8 this year and so we wanted to start the year off with a bang.  Sorry to those who have already celebrated great to be 8's this year!

Our theme was "I like to look for rainbows"
LOVE this song.  I found this idea on pinterest for St. Patrick's Day, but "converted" it a party favor.

You need a bag of Rainbow Twizzlers

1 bag makes around 8 to 9 party favors
I got a second since we had 12 great to be 8's

and clear gift baggies

Dollar store is great.  I bleed Target so that's where I got mine.

Then arrange the Twizzlers on a pan and then put them in the baggies.

Fold over the top and tape.

Print, cut, and tape on cloud handout on the top of the baggie.

So....I didn't realize that I did "love" instead of "like" until I had cut and taped them.
I did change it afterward in a PDF for all of you!

Cut out and tape to the top of the baggie.  And there you go!  Cute party favor!

5 Must Haves for Your Baby Boy

You hear the news......it's a boy!  Now what's the first urge you receive?  Um, hello, shopping spree.  You just can't help it.  You need all the cutest of cute things for your bundle of joy.
I found myself on Pinterest, Etsy, Zulily, Amazon, anywhere that fed my shopping needs.  These are my favorite finds.

1.  The Mustachifier

What the freakin' cute????  Comes in the classic gentleman, ladies' man, and cowboy.  Perfect for your little beau.

Note:  Our little man was so tiny that the mustachifier was a wee bit heavy at first.

Make the Mustachifier for a just-as-cute, inexpensive, and lighter alternative from Create Studio.

2. Minky Couture Blankets

My family is OBSESSED with these softer-than-cloud blankets.  None of our kids can sleep without them.

Besides avoiding the hassle of sewing together the difficult minky fabric, Minky Couture fabrics come in tons of sizes and and amazing designs.  Buy one and become addicted.

Three minky's your little man needs:
Mini Minky - a 10in x 18in mini blanket for on-the-go softness
Infant Minky - 36in x 30in to snuggle your babe in
Fitted Crib Sheet - perfect for a good night's sleep (more like snoozes)

COUPONS:  yes.....never buy a Minky without a coupon!

If you live in Utah, look in your local Hometown Values magazine

3.  Baby Moccasins

Freshly Picked baby moccasins as seen on Shark Tank!  Not only are they adorable, but the soft soles prove better for teaching your babe to walk.  SO popular right now.

Now if you are like me, $60 baby shoes don't exactly coincide with your budget.

Sail East Couture sells moccasins on Etsy for $19.99 and they are just as cute.

If you are an adventurous DIYer then try these DIY Moccasins from Sewing In No Man's Land.

4. Bow Ties

Bow ties, bow ties, bow ties.  We all are going crazy for them.  Babies and bow ties just go together.

Little Mr provides a sturdier bow tie for the bouncy baby boy.  Fits right on his top button.

Or make your own Velcro Bow Ties by The Pleated Poppy.  Easy no-sew tutorial!

And last but not least......

5. The Baby Boy Cardi

Okay....how can you look at a baby in this and not die from cuteness??? Yes please.  There are a few places to buy these on Etsy, but Haddon & Co is my favorite.  She also has Cardi/Bow Ties sets.  You can also find these at Carter's.

Happy shopping.  Tell me what you think!

4 months going on 25 years....

My husband and I got addicted to ABC Family's The Goldbergs on Tuesday nights.  The mom on that show is a "smother" and constantly tells her teenage son, along with the rest of the world, that he is delicious.  Never thought I'd be that mom.  But I am.  My son is delicious and everyone is going to know it.

The sad thing is, he now recognizes the camera, iPad, and iPhone. No more smiles for mom.  How do they get that smart so fast?  Oh well these pics still make me want to eat his face off.  Love him.

Valentine's Day Baby

Look at this little cutie.  AH I love him.

So I found a picture similar to this on Pinterest.  I had to try it!

Mother's BEWARE.  This photo opt might look easy, but looks can be deceiving.

But it is so worth this face…….

Before tackling this adventure, make sure you have these 3 items:

1) red lipstick
I used the cheap NYC brand.

It gets extremely messy…so don't waste your pennies on something ultra expensive.

2) make-up remover wipes
My heart is sold on Neutrogena makeup remover wipes, but any brand will do.

Fact: regular baby bum wipes do not work.

Also, my makeup remover face wash did not work in the tub either.

So at 11:00pm my very happy husband made a Smith's run.

3) Photoshop of some kind

If you don't have Adobe Photoshop or iPhoto on your computer, Picmonkey is free.

After 10 minutes lipstick was everywhere, so I had to touch up his cute little tummy.

Happy Valentine's Day Photo Shoot!

January Baby Pics

I've officially turned into a photo freak.  My Sister-in-law told me it happens to every mother.  I convinced myself it would not happen.  And yet…..now I find myself buying outfits purely to take pics of Jaxon in them.  Poor Jax.  But this smile says he's getting used to it.

I found this hat at Target on sale for $6.  It's their Cherokee brand and I about died when i saw it.  That's what Target does to a woman.

My favorite way to take pictures? With our iPad.  No joke every pic of him I take is with the iPad now. I like the iOS7 editing choices.  Just as good as photoshop for me(since I don't have that haha)!

The trick is to click a million pics and finally get a smiley.  I love him so much!

Best Sewing Machine for the Minky Seamstress

Sewing has become my thing lately.  When I was 16 my more got me a little Kenmore sewing machine from Sears.  Right….thanks a lot mom.

What I didn't understand then(along with a slew of other things) is that became the best gift anyone has ever given me.  I literally use it everyday, for anything like letting out my pre-pregnancy pants to sewing burp cloths.
Sewing became a passion, and I was recently offered a job sewing for Minky Couture.  If you haven't ordered a blanket from them…..

YOU ARE MISSING OUT!

They are the best, cutest, softest blankets on the face of the planet.

I had to get one for my baby. He is obsessed with it.

Minky Couture has been in business for the last 3 years, and business is booming.  Everyone has to have a Minky.

But quickly I learned that sewing minky fabric is incredibly hard……and the days of little Kenmore came swiftly to an end.  My tension was off every 5 seconds, and I repinned the blanket (so that dang fabric wouldn't slip) until my fingers hurt.

My manager finally suggested a sewing machine that has proved the most minky worthy…

PFAFF Ambition Essential

$700 retail, but if you're like me you have to buy used.  I bought mine for $435 on ebay.

This is perfect for the sewer who is not a professional but does lots of projects!

The reason this machine is so good……well, for one, it's a FPAFF. Also the built in walking foot keeps the fabric from slipping.

If you can't afford a new machine I highly suggest buying a walking foot attachment online.  On amazon they ranged $20 to $40 depending on the model and quality.

Happy sewing!

DIY Carseat Canopy...easiest tutorial ever!

I love the whole carseat canopy thing.  So cute!  And as I've learned the last month, it keeps your kid warm and away from germs.

When I was still pregnant everyone told me about this carseat canopy website.  But holy expensive!  Even with the promo codes I thought to myself I could do this for so much cheaper! So of course I found myself on Pinterest.

I hate reading instructions.  I am a huge visual learner...show me how to do it once and we're good.  So when it comes to following a tutorial on the internet, I read several to see which one I like and understand the most.

GO to:  creativelychristy.blogspot.com

I found this tutorial for a carseat canopy and loved it. SO easy, especially if you pretend to be a good sewer, like me.  It literally took me one hour!  Which, according to my husband, never happens!
